Fighting Teostra can be difficult, but with the right preparation, you can prevail. Below, we'll take a look at everything you need to know about fighting this monster, including its strengths and weaknesses, some of the attacks it will use, and the materials it drops
Teostra - Strengths And Weaknesses
- Weak Points - Head
- Resistant Points - Stomach, Back
- Elemental/Aiment Weaknesses - Water, Ice
- Elemental/Ailment Resistance - Fire, Thunder, Dragon, Sleep, Paralysis, Blast
- Best Weapon Damage - Slash, Blunt, Pierce
As you may have guessed, Teostra is completely immune to Fire damage, and takes much less damage from Thunder and Dragon elements. Conversely, Teostra is weak to both Water and Ice damage, making weapons of these elements very strong in this fight.
Teostra isn't necessarily weak to any status ailments, but Sleep, Paralysis and Blast are much less effective than Poison and Stun, although not by much. All weapon damage types fair equally well against Teostra, but remember to use one with Water or Ice, or at the very least, without Fire.
Best Equipment To Use To Fight Teostra
Teostra mainly uses fire-based attacks to deal damage, inflicting Fireblight and Blastblight ailments frequently. Because of this, we recommend using armor with high Fire resistance. The Heat Guard skill is also immensely valuable for this fight, as it negates Teostra's innate fire aura that deals continuous damage to nearby hunters.
Heat Guard can be found on the Barnos and Lavasioth chest armor pieces.
For weapons, as mentioned above, anything with Water or Ice elemental damage will be best against Teostra. Whatever you do, don't use a weapon with Fire element, as this damage type is completely negated by Teostra.
The Fireproof Mantle can help reduce damage from Teostra's fire-based attacks, as well as prevent Fireblight and Blastblight. The Temporal Mantle is also a good choice, as this can make it easier to avoid some of Teostra's more dangerous attacks like its Supernova.
Nullberries can be a great item to bring to this fight, as they can instantly cure Fireblight and Blastblight. Be sure to have a few on hand before you fight Teostra.
Teostra - Fight Breakdown And Moves
Throughout the fight, Teostra will frequently inflict Fireblight and Blastblight. Fireblight deals fire damage over time, but can be cured by rolling three times. Blastblight will cause you to explode if it's not cured after a few seconds, but you can get rid of it by rolling three times. Keep an eye on your status effects as you fight Teostra to cure their effects as soon as possible.
Teostra will attack by scattering glowing orange dust particles into the air. These will explode after a short time, dealing damage in the area. Watch out for these glowing clouds as you avoid Teostra's tail, claw, and bite attacks.
When Teostra uses its Firebreathing attack, this is your opportunity to lay on some damage. Quickly move behind the breath area and attack the monster's head to get some decent damage in. Just watch out for the variation of its fire breath attack where it quickly sweeps it to the side, while you'll need to dodge to avoid.
Eventually, Teostra will become enraged, and glowing fire particles will surround its body. While enraged, each of Teostra's attacks will become more powerful, and it will also use a few new ones.
The main enraged attack to watch out for is its Supernova. Teostra will quickly scatter its glowing embers around itself in a large area before leaping into the sky. Then, after a short second, it will explode, dealing damage extremely high damage in a wide area.
When you see Teostra scatter its particles, run away, or quickly equip the Temporal Mantle to dodge through the explosion.
To knock Teostra out of its enraged state, focus on attacking its head. After it's taken enough damage to the head, it will fall to the ground and the glowing embers surrounding its body will dissipate. Use this opportunity to deal some damage as the fight returns to normal.
